Anyway, in case anyone is wondering, my web home base is now stevemoraco.com - Simple enough right?

Day 49: Leap Day!

Once every four years, a special day is created so all the other days get a break. its on February 29th and its called Leap Day. Hence the picture of me leaping. It was taken with a work light ($12.95 from Home Depot) off to the side to provide that nice warm golden glow.

a great photographer once said "gotta love scoring photo gear from the big orange store!"

Day 48: Sunset

This was taken after i got home from UCCS the tonight. i really like the silhouette of the tree.

Day 47: Shadow

This is another great picture from Day 38. Good stuff. this was one of maybe 5 out of the 400 or so that wasn't blurry at all. not to mention the gray clouds are perfectly even.

Day 46: L-o-v-e

aw man, no pictures today. oh well, heres one from day 39. I made it with a long exposure and an LED light keychain. my favorite part is the light switch on the side. which is in the on position, ironically enough. wouldn't it be cool if you could turn a floating set of blue LED words on and off with a switch?

Day 45: Sunrise

This was taken just before school...its a little blury, but it was a beautiful morning...

Day 44: Dry Ice

Ok, i know that your wondering what this is. I know it looks like a plastic sphere, but its not. its smoke. smoke in a bubble. yes, you heard me right. Now here 's how i did it: i took dry ice (which can be obtained from your local grocery store for $1.50), put it in that blue cup with some hot water, and it started smoking. Then, being the genius that I am (and having watched this on youtube), i added some dish soap, and played with it until i got it to form one bubble. the picture is the result. now go try it yourself!

Day 43: Sun

This was taken at f/14 at ISO 100 for 1/4000th of a second, which in simplest terms is pretty much as dark as you can get a picture. Yes, the round white thing is a sun. No, the clouds were not red at all at the time, but the exposure caused them to look red compared to the sun... which is very white.

Day 42: Gum

Trident is good for your oral health. its true. but anyway, this picture is of trident on the UCCS parking lot at about 5pm, so the shadows are extra-long. cropped with rule of thirds in mind.

Day 41: Moon

This is a picture i took last night just after the full eclipse. it was a little cloudy, hence the light lining just outside the moon's edges... but i didn't take a picture today, so i couldn't resist using this one. I cropped it with the rule of thirds in mind. Definitely worth viewing the full picture (clicky).

Day 40: Fire City

This is a picture taken just after the lunar eclipse tonight, the clouds covered my view of the eclipse and afterward they turned into the odd stringy shapes seen above. the orange tint of the low clouds is from the city lights, and the clouds are blurry because they moved so fast.

Day 39: Snowy Sadie

Mom woke my up nice and early this morning and told me to grab my camera. i only got about 10 pictures of Sadie covered in snow, but this one turned out exceptionally well. i believe we own the cutest dog on earth. I also plan to use this picture as an example of an animal portrait in my speech this week.

Day 38: Crow

This was taken in monument around 4PM. I had been following crows all around downtown monument for about 2 hours because my mother was at the laundromat. This was one of the last pictures i took before they all flew off down to Colorado Springs. I had a lot of fun following them, and got about 400-500 pictures...

Oh, and today i figured out how to edit post times, so from now on my posts will look like they were posted on the correct date, even though i may be a week late... yay!

Day 37: Post Sunrise

Please view the full image! (click on it)

This is the most beautiful picture I have ever taken. I say that without hesitation, and I really really like it. Admittedly, it's not as great here as it as in full size (14000x2500, 35 MP!), but I couldnt post the full thing due to size issues. It is a panorama composed of 10 images, each overlapping half of the other, which means that 100 million pixels went into making the final 35 million pixel image. I got the inspiration from a few Garden of the Gods pictures I saw at a Photo Gallery in the mall. Hope you like it! I like it so much I think I will have it printed...

Day 36: Pre Sunrise

This was taken at Garden of the Gods this Saturday morning at 6:42am, moments before sunrise. one of 300 I took. This is my second favorite of the set.

Day 35: Gloomy

This was one of the 5 very grainy/blurry images i took this morning of our backyard, everything was covered in ice and looked very pretty, unfortunately this was the only one worth sharing... i think the graininess actually adds to the overall feel of the photo...

Day 34: Clock Tower

This is another shot from Denver (day 29) that i thought was really good... I took this at around 5pm

Day 33: Mormonism

One of my relatives (technically, first cousin twice removed...) was a Mormon, and a registered record-keeper as well. This picture is of her book about our family history. It was taken in my home-made light box...

Day 32: Milk And Honey

Actually, just honey... on its way to a cup of tea. I got caught once again without an image for the day, so I took this as mom was making her tea.

Day 31: Boots

These are my shoes, i picked them out in 30 seconds from Target (not even exaggerating). Also, I dislike the salt on our schools sidewalk. its makes me angry. Anyway, this is one of the best pictures from today.

Day 30: Birds of a Feather

I think this is the most birds i have ever seen in one tree. they were very close to each other, like one big family.

Day 29: Night Lights

This is the 16th street mall in Denver at about 6:00pm. It was beautiful, so naturally, I took a picture!

Update from late April 2008: This picture won Evening of the Arts 2008 at my school!!! I can't believe it! I printed it out 20x20 for about $25 and matted it using some old poster board I found around the house and it won!!!

Day 28: Only

This was taken on the way to T.G.I Friday's. i figured it was the best i had taken. so, long story short: here it is on my blog.

Day 27: Retro

Found this rack of awesome papers in Hobby Lobby, this is just two of the 50-some racks. pretty sweet. it was like retro heaven. its where i got the papers i used for the wall and floor in my Self Portrait.

Day 26: GoG

This is from Garden of the Gods, at around 5 in the afternoon. This was my Favorite from the batch of about 200.

Day 25: Patriotism

Again, an older picture (specifically, from day 23). But i couldn't pass up the opportunity to be patriotic, so here it is. This is one of the flags from the New Life World Prayer Center.

Day 24: Slippery Steps

This is the snow on my deck, it was the last picture i took in my hour-long time lapse of snow building up. as you can tell, it was quite dark by then. I like the contrast with the wood and the snow.

Day 23: Old Friend

Well, This is where i spent about 80% of my time between the ages of 8 and 12. For inquiring minds, its Mick's house. I won't go into detail on him, but we were great friends up until about 2 years ago, when everything fell apart. Anyway, i spent a lot of time here, and today was my first time back in about 3 years...

Day 22: Eerie

I was out shopping at Walmart when i noticed that there were low lying clouds covering the whole mountain range, so when i got home i went up on the rock behind my house and took this.

Setup: The rock light was on, causing the tree to glow. The background mistyness is the colors of city lights on the low clouds. The yellow light on the left is from the Air Force Football Field. The center white-ness is the new shopping center with Walmart and home-depot. The red-ness on the right is from Monument. Cool eh?

Day 21: Sky Fire

This is the sunrise, also from two days ago. I caught it out of the Monument bus window with my HP camera as we left the McDonald's parking lot. It looked much better in person, trust me.
