Moving On...

Update: I got a Pro Flickr account with the money I made from Prom Portraits, and so I'm planning to post a lot to there for now as I figure out the details for my official photography site.

Portfolio's up! But I use flickr mostly now...

Update Update (Feb 07th 2012): HI! I still check this blog every once in awhile. It's fun to have an archive of my first Project 365 still hanging out on blogspot. Cool.

Anyway, in case anyone is wondering, my web home base is now stevemoraco.com - Simple enough right?

Day 172: Couch Curve

This was taken of our couch in our living room around noon. We had just finished cleaning the house for my grandparent's arrival, and I decided to play around with the black and white function on my camera. Not much editing, levels, cropped, and resized, pretty much straight from the camera. I decided to post after reading up and realizing this picture kind of fits the golden rule which all photographers should know.

Yay! Sweet Golden Mean. I use that and the rule of thirds a lot. They're my 2 favorite composition strategies.

I believe that if you read the link you would realize that the rule of thirds and the golden rule are one and the same, the rule of thirds is simply a dumbed-down version of it.

but thanks for the comment!

Wow, you were up till 3? Nice. Yay summer. And yes, i know that, but you can't always use the golden mean because the general flow of the picture doesn't follow the spiral. So you just put the focal point where the spiral would go. Ah, the whole point is to not put the focal point in the center which i like never do. :) I also like triangle compositions, X compositions, and diagonal compositions.

Wow. You're quite the compositionado.
And whats worse is that I just got up at 2. That's about the latest I've slept in in a long time...

To me, composition is the most important thing in photography. Closely followed by lighting. And 2 is pretty late. When i sleep that late, i wake up tired. ha ha. :)

Well, I guess we'll all have to go to Maddie for our composition inquisitions! This one follows that golden rule thing quite nicely.

Yes I tend to feel tired all day if i wake up after 10:00, I like to get up early, I never can convince myself to do it on a regular basis though.

And not to be a jerk and try to compete with you here, but to me the most important things in photography are passion, imagination, creativity. Being able to convey emotion through photography is what I strive for. All that logistic stuff is good to know and can help you acheive those things, but I think all photographers should read this and take it to heart.
