If you're ever going to click a picture to see the full view, please let it be this one. All the pictures I'm posting from Michigan and Minnesota are full size, I don't have the tools with me to easily resize them. Actually I'm using Picasa to import, edit, and write my pictures to DVD, and I'm really just to lazy to resize them on the go :) so that benefits you all.
This was taken in the back yard of my Great Aunt Sandy and Uncle Eric. They raise baby squirrels that don't have parents. They also have a 9 year old ferret, two parakeets, and a dog named Jacques. Anyway, after the squirrels they raise come of age, they let them go. They said this little guy was probably one they raised about 3 years ago. He's a red squirrel, and he was very curious. I got surprisingly close to him, and he actually crawled down the tree to the feeder he is sitting on in this picture. The tip of my lens was probably only about 2 feet away from him. Despite seeming okay with my presence there, he was still a little skittish. If you've ever seen Lilo & Stitch the movie, this guy moved up and down the tree a lot like stitch. Only a ton faster. So fast in fact, that even with my camera taking 1/800th of a second exposures, by the time the shutter black out went away after taking a picture, he was often out of frame. It was a very odd experience. I ended up getting about 40 pictures perfectly in focus, and they were all taken at ISO 800. In the end, I like this one best because he seems genuinely interested in the viewer. He has the cutest expression.
Moving On...
Update: I got a Pro Flickr account with the money I made from Prom Portraits, and so I'm planning to post a lot to there for now as I figure out the details for my official photography site.

I swear Steve, your photographs are getting better and better every day. And from the start they've been amazing.
This is probably the... 3rd cutest picture you've taken.
Here's my order so far:
1 - Snowy Sadie
2 - Sunny Sadie
3 - Peek-a-boo
(those are just the ones I remember off the top of my head)
:)
Aw. He's adorable! Even though i absolutely hate squirrels, i have to say that i really like this photo. I love the crispness of the squirrels whiskers and little beady eyes. the colors have to be my favorite part though. There are these amazing warm brown and orange hues of the squirrel and tree on the left, but then there's these vibrant cool colors of green and turquoise on the right. The off-centering of the squirrel is really great too. Man, you're getting good at composing pictures. I have to say, composition is definitely the thing that i really notice has improved most in your photography throughout this project. Your photos are becoming more and more artistic. Great Job!!!
Maddie hates squirrels? SHAME ON HER. I have one who visits me in the afternoons. he puts his hands up on the window and looks at me. I think they are adorable. :]
That little guy is sooo CUTE! He is looking directly and intently at you. He must have been intrigued. I love little squirrels. My family and I had two little critters when I was young that we raised (they had been abandoned by their mom :( We turned them loose when they were grown and they remained frequent visitors to our backyard the rest of my childhood. Thanks for evoking great memories!
Hey Steve, I've been meaning to check out your blog ever since your mom gave me the address. I'm impressed. I really love your choice of subjects. I haven't had a chance to look over all your photos. But I'll be back. In the meantime enjoy your vacation. It sounds like a great time. And if I don't get a chance to say it later. Have a fantastic birthday!!

I love squiffies!!! I saw one yesterday- it was laying on its stomach on a log- his arms and legs totally just spread out (yes, he was alive) and he was just chillin! Anyways, like everyone's said already- nice pic! Too bad the rest of his family can't see his beautiful portrait- you should sell animal portraits!
