The idea for this picture came from the Science Lab we did in Chemistry class today. It involved burning a candle and seeing if the burnt candle weighed less than its previous unburned state. During this, our teacher showed us a cool magic trick where you light a stick, blow out the candle from which it was lit, and then hold the flame over the smoke coming from the candle. The flame from the wooden dowel travels down the smoke and back onto the candle, which is really cool. It's hard to get to work perfectly, and this picture is just a setup picture while I was practicing.
Moving On...
Update: I got a Pro Flickr account with the money I made from Prom Portraits, and so I'm planning to post a lot to there for now as I figure out the details for my official photography site.
Portfolio's up! But I use flickr mostly now...
So without further delay, here are my two shiney new URL's:

Update Update (Feb 07th 2012): HI! I still check this blog every once in awhile. It's fun to have an archive of my first Project 365 still hanging out on blogspot. Cool.
Anyway, in case anyone is wondering, my web home base is now stevemoraco.com - Simple enough right?

That was so fun! It took me and Hannah like 3 mintues to finally get it right! :D This really captures the experiment well!
Haha those were fun times! (and then came the mathematics...ugh) but really- nice picture! And like rach said- great timing, perfect :)
Fun description of the magic trick effect from the science experiment : ) Makes me actually want to try that. Again, i'm intrigued at how detailed the grain in the wood appears. I'm never that successful with that level of focus.
